Better-Job-More-Money-Week-1

November 8, 2009 marks the beginning of The Better Job, More Money Challenge.
This challenge is about getting my friend Leon a better job with twice the
income as his current one. The purpose of this is to prove
that if you believe and take action, anything is
possible.
He is new to self improvement so I
will be helping him out along the way.
Here is the plan we’ve made.

The SMART Goal

“My goal is to get a new job with double the income within 3 months. I’m going to
apply to 14-21 jobs a week and look forward to at least 2 interviews a
week. I think 10-15% conversion rate is realistic for this slow
economy. Besides applying, I will also visualize that
I will get the job and accomplish my goal. I
will keep a positive attitude through
this process and succeed.”

The Process

Alright, so we set the goal. Now we have to take action! So we’re going to look
for jobs using Craigslist.org, Careerbuilder.com, and other online job
search engines. We will also network with people to find some
opportunities available. Once we apply, we will follow
up to make sure they got the application and
ask when they will be interviewing.
Persistence is key here.

We’re also going to make a video that Leon will watch in the morning and right
before going to sleep. I will post the video up in the next update. This
is so he can stay focused everyday on the goal. The video will
also help motivate him and keep him in a good state
of mind. When his energy is good, the results
will be too. A person with a positive
mind attracts more good.

Staying Updated

I will be posting an update once a week on the results that we’ve gotten so far.
If you want to stay updated, you can get it by E-mail or get it through
RSS
. Either way is good depending on what you prefer. This
is a very exciting challenge and I can’t wait to see
the results. I know that this is possible.
The only limits we have are the
ones we set ourselves.
