1) Take a Nice Long Bath
When there’s too many things on your mind, there is nothing like getting away to a warm
relaxing bath. If you want to really get in the relaxing mood, go ahead and dim
the lights, turn on the candles, and put on some soft music. When you
take your bath, the main focus should be to relax your mind.
Try breathing slower and slowing down your thoughts.
Remember to enjoy the moment. That’s the
only thing that’s real, the moment.
2) Get a Massage
Treat yourself! Everyone deserves it but not everyone does it. You work hard so make
sure you treat yourself to a nice massage when you really need to get away.
When you have a lot on your mind or feel stressed, it can really have
a negative effect on your body. Your muscles will be more
tense and your energy level will be up and down.
Getting a nice relaxing massage will solve
all those problems. You’ll love it.
3) Get in Touch with Nature
I’m fortunate enough to live in the Bay Area where we’re surrounded by beautiful
hills, water, and of course beautiful weather. When I need to get away,
there’s a lot of places in nature to go. If you don’t have a lot of
options like this available, don’t worry. There’s a lot
of CD’s you can get that have the sounds of
nature. Then just close your eyes
and picture the perfect place.
4) Daydream
Daydreaming is very good for you. It can turn your mood around in an instant.
You see, our mind can’t tell what’s real and not. Whatever image it sees,
it takes it as reality. So if you daydream about being relaxed or
in a relaxed environment, your mind will believe it’s
real. Try it. You will really feel much better
afterwards. Use the power of your
imagination and get creative.
5) Take a Nap
Taking a nap is a perfect way to relax your mind. Sometimes thinking can take
over our lives that we just need to stop it for a while. If you’re not good
at slowing down your thoughts and getting into a relaxed state
of mind, just take a nap! Your mind will be much more
clear when you wake up. If you’re not a nap
person, feel free to read a book, watch
a nice movie, or listen to music.

Faizal, from the foot of Mount Fuji, Japan, thank you for your practical and informative blog. I especially like your point 3, Get in Touch with Nature, because it resonates deeply with the natural energy wisdom I live and teach here in the mountains of Japan. We seem to vibrate to a similar worldview, so I hope you will take time to visit my website/blog. I look forward to exchanging perspectives with you from this part of the world.

I love these ideas for relaxing. Under the nature category I would add, feed ducks at a nearby lake. I hadn’t done this in a few years until this past Saturday. It was so relaxing, even though I had to scold a few bully ducks. Another addition to the relaxation list is knitting. It takes me to a nice place.

Hello Gayle,
Thank you for adding those good ideas.
It’s been raining in my area a lot so can’t feed the ducks now. And I can definitely see how knitting can relax you. Another thing similar to that is reading or painting.
Thanks for visiting Be Truly Happy.
