Failure is Success

Failure-is-successBecoming successful without failing first is rare for many of us.

Did you know that President Lincoln lost seven elections before becoming the President? How about Henry Ford facing two bankruptcies before hitting it big with Ford Motors? Also, imagine the number of sales Joe Girard failed to close before becoming the number one car salesman in the world!

Failing made these people stronger, smarter, and better than before. It can do the same for us, we just have to learn how to use the power of failure.

There’s two types of failure

You see, failing can be just a temporary set back, or it can be complete failure depending on how you decide to handle the situation.

It’s common for many of us to say we’ve failed as soon as we don’t get the desired results. But if you keep going and try to figure out another way to accomplish your goals, then that failure is only a temporary setback. But once you give up completely, then you have truly failed.

It’s all about how you view it

Your perspective on failure determines how successful you’ll be. Start living by Mr. Edison’s words, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” He was a inventor who failed thousands of times before successfully creating a light bulb that worked. Once any of us grasps the power to turn failures into positive situations, only then can we move forward.

Failing is learning

Mr. Edison not only had a positive outlook for his failures, he also learned from them and grew. All this knowledge of what didn’t work helped him figure out what does work. The same concept can be applied to us. Trial and error is the best way to learn. When you make errors though, just realize it’s only a temporary setback.

There was a man who was a billionaire and it took him 50 years to amass his fortune. One day he ended up losing it all! From there, it took him 4 years and he gained his wealth back. When asked how he did it, he answered, “I knew what worked and what didn’t.”

Learn from your failures because that’s the knowledge that will stick with you and take you far.
