Becoming a Positive Person
Becoming a positive person is an important step towards happiness and success. It enables us to see things from a new perspective and opens doors to new opportunities.
Now, when I say a “positive person”, some of you might link that strictly to positive thinking. The truth is that positive thinking is only one part of becoming a positive person.
To fully understand what it means to be a positive person, we must understand our state of mind, our state of body, and our state of soul. All three states have to work in harmony to truly become a positive person.
The states of a positive person
The state of mind: An example of a person being in a positive state of mind is saying something like, “I am positive I will do this.” This shows confidence. When we see things from a positive and confident perspective, we trust ourselves, our decisions, and our actions to bring us the desired results.
The state of body: The state of body relates to the actions we MAKE and TAKE. If a person says “I am positive I will do this” but the state of their body shows fear, lack of confidence, and no enthusiasm, then their mind and body aren’t matching up. They will have to go back and work on their state of mind in order to change their state of body.
Another example is someone who wants to lose weight and they say they’ll do it, but then goes and eats burgers and chips. It’s the complete opposite of what they said! To master the state of body, we need to take actions that are constructive, not destructive. It needs to be in alignment with our state of mind.
The state of soul: This is the most important step to becoming a positive person. The state of soul can be best described as our emotions and moods.
In order to be able to call yourself a positive person, you must feel positive! That’s the whole purpose of it. If you’re not feeling good, then how are you enjoying life? You will be on a roller coaster ride of emotions.
A positive person gives off a positive vibe, they make others smile, they turn bad into good….you get the idea right? Being positive has to become a part of your identity.
How to become a positive person
Observe: If you already have a clear idea of how positive people think, act, and talk then you can skip this step. But if you don’t know, then pick out some people you feel are positive and watch them, try to spend time with them and learn what makes them positive.
This powerful exercise helps you build a clear definition of what it means to be positive. I would suggest picking out 5-10 people and picking out the best characteristics from them that you would like to have, and move on to the next step.
Envision: Imagination is very powerful. Anything we create, starts off in our imagination (consciously and subconsciously) so if you want to become a better person, you have to start in your mind first.
Take time out each day to visualize yourself being a positive person. When you imagine, create positive emotions from what you’re picturing. Imagine yourself feeling good, giving off a positive vibe, handling tough situations with ease, enjoying your life and whatever else you link with being positive. I suggest spending at least 20-30 minutes each day on this.
Materialize: What you’re doing by visualizing is reprogramming your subconscious mind and becoming a new person. This change in the subconscious will also change how you think and feel consciously.
When this happens, action is required from you. New opportunities will arrive and you must be confident enough to accept them. For example: You might feel like smiling more and the old you doesn’t smile much. But since smiling fits in with the definition of being positive, you have to smile more. It moves you closer to becoming a positive person.
Another example can be feeling different about the people you are around. You start noticing they are negative and bringing you down. You must take the action of letting them go because you’re a new person now. It will be hard but go with your intuition. It’s the best for you.
Lacking action will have you stuck in one place forever. So go on, start observing, visualizing, and soon enough you’ll find it materializing right in front of your eyes!

Hey Faizal,
Great suggestions in becoming a more positive person. As you probably know, I’m a big fan of visualization. I like how you pointed out that action is still required. The opportunities will arise but you still have to be the one to take them.
Yes exactly Ben, action is the key. Visualization really works wonders, doesn’t it?
Hi Faizal,
I love it! Your post is about true alignment — mind, body, and soul. It begins consciously, then we must Believe and have our subconscious mind on board.

I enjoyed this post. I really think that having the right positive attitude does change things. I began on my path of positive thinking and visualizations 4 years ago and have looked back ever since. Since that time, many great things began to appear in my life on several levels.
