We live in a world full of instant gratification and you would think that the population over all would be happier with the abundance of technology we have today, right? The shit kicker is, I don’t think we are!
Think about it.
What makes you happy? What makes you light up inside? Do you enjoy watching funny videos, reading relatable memes or inspirational quote that might actually get you motivated to take action in your life? Maybe pizza makes you happy? (You’re not alone).
What. makes. you. happy?
What I thought was an easy question for myself turned out to be a day that consisted of more questions than answers. I’m in the middle of a weird transition in my life right now. I became a mom 7 months ago, I went back to work 4 months ago and although I thought I was ready to be immersed in a world filled with adult conversations again, there were times when I missed my son and just wanted to be the person taking care of him. I go back and forth on whether I have the energy or time to make dinner at night. The cat needs to be fed…again and where the hell is my cell phone? Oh, and please if someone could deliver a large Upside Down Iced Caramel Macchiato to me, that would be great!
I’m realizing that somewhere between the to-do’s and the basic routine of my every day life, I have to make sure I’m happy. Whether that’s a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, taking 15 minutes to go walk a lap around the neighborhood, or finally starting a blog that I’ve been thinking about for years - it’s important for ME to be happy.
And it’s important for YOU to be happy. You see, the world is full of shit nowadays. Literally, there’s shit on the ground from animals and what not, but there are shit people out there too. And I betcha they are shitty because they’re 1) a shitty person in general or 2) they’re having a shitty day. Either way, we could all benefit from a little more happiness in the world.
I challenge you to write down 5 things that make you happy. Whether those 5 things made you happy today, or they make you happy in general - it doesn’t matter. Just take a moment to acknowledge that you, as an individual human being, have things in life that make you happy.
